Police in western Uganda are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 49-year-old Kenyan truck driver following a road crash in Kabale District on Friday morning.
Hussein Ramadhan, the deceased driver, was en route to Rwanda when the incident occurred. The truck, a Mercedes Benz trailer with registration number KDM 588E/ZE3608, was loaded with fertilizers. According to Mr. Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, the trailer overturned at Kyanamira trading center in Kabale District. It is alleged that Ramadhan failed to negotiate a corner, resulting in the accident, and he died instantly.
Upon receiving the report, police officers from the traffic department visited the crash site. Following their assessment, Hussein's body was then transported to Kabale regional referral hospital for a postmortem examination.
Road accidents have been a significant cause of fatalities in the country this year, with police attributing most incidents to human error.
