Museveni: What happened to nsenene

President Museveni playfully inquired about the whereabouts of edible grasshoppers, locally known as Nsenene.

He expressed surprise that despite November traditionally being known as the month of the grasshoppers, they have yet to make an appearance halfway through the month. Speculating on the absence, President Museveni jokingly questioned whether climate change was to blame.

Although he personally does not consume Nsenene, he extended well wishes to those who do, including fish eaters. He requested to be informed when the grasshoppers finally appear. President Museveni also mentioned enswa, flying ants that are typically expected to emerge during October, known as Kashwa.

He inquired whether they had made their presence known during that month. Consumers and traders of Nsenene were disappointed this time around, as the insects did not appear as expected.

This absence has been attributed to climate change. Despite the current situation, both consumers and traders remain hopeful that the insects will make their appearance soon, although their origin, breeding, and migration patterns remain unknown.
