General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, has pledged that barracks will be created throughout the country to satisfy the needs of the soldiers.
Muhoozi made the vow during the commissioning of multi-billion-dollar homes and a transportation workshop at Bombo's Land Forces Headquarters.
The apartment, named after Patrice Lumumba, the former Prime Minister of the current Democratic Republic of the Congo, will house the families of over 16 officers.
Muhoozi, also known as Bombo barracks, was founded in 1906 and holds historical significance for Uganda and East Africa.
He also complimented the President and Commander-in-Chief for his unwavering efforts in constructing the army and providing it with new facilities and equipment.
In the same vein, he commended the army's leadership, particularly Commander Land Forces, Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, for playing a critical role in the construction of the officers' apartment and motor vehicle workshop.
Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, for his part, commended Gen Muhoozi for acting at a time when he was most needed.
"Without you, these projects would have died, but because you came in, you really revitalized our programs, such as the project of constructing the perimeter fence, which is about to be completed." Muhanga explained.
Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Staff, Land Forces, reminded the invited guests that Gen Muhoozi's resilience and 'excellent' work practices enabled the construction of these structures worth billions of dollars, and he committed to guarantee that the facilities are effectively protected.
The UPDF Engineers' Brigade completed the entire project.
Lt Col James Lwegaba informed the visitors that the Land Force received Shs28.5 billion in Fiscal Year 2020 for the construction of 400 housing units in various formations.
More projects are underway or near completion in several Divisions and Brigades, he noted.
