A tragic incident that occurred in Kamugoyi Batwa community in Muhindura Parish, Kanaba Sub County, Kisoro District. During a heavy downpour, landslides struck the house where two children from the community were sleeping, resulting in their unfortunate demise. The victims have been identified as Laban Irasubiza, 14, and Brian Niyodusenga, 8. They were residing with their 85-year-old grandmother, Ms. Juliana Jojiya, who sustained serious injuries and was subsequently rushed to Kisoro Hospital.
The incident was brought to the attention of the police by Julius Turyakira, a police officer assigned to Kanaba Police Post, on Wednesday at approximately 14:00 hours. It was reported that the makeshift house was engulfed and buried by water runoff and mudslides.
