Tragedy struck in Ndejje-Kanyanya Cell, a town on the outskirts of Kampala City, as a result of heavy rains when a perimeter wall of a fuel station collapsed onto nearby homes during the night. The victims of this devastating incident have been identified as Phiona Nabulumba, Geoffrey Nabunywa, Moja Fuuku, a three-year-old named Liana, and another individual known only as Doreen.
Following the incident, the police swiftly arrived at the scene and confirmed the identities of the deceased. In order to determine the exact cause of their deaths, the bodies of the victims were transported to City Mortuary Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination.
The collapse of the fuel station's weakened wall, due to the relentless rainfall, resulted in the loss of five innocent lives. This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the inherent dangers posed by such natural disasters and their potential to cause significant harm to individuals and communities.
The local authorities are now working to assess the structural integrity of other buildings in the area to prevent any future incidents of this nature. Efforts are also being made to extend support and provide solace to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic event.
