Kabale Municipal Council authorities have been handed community projects worth Shs2.7 billion, with a call for the beneficiaries to make optimal use of them to achieve their intended purpose.
The commissioning ceremony took place on Friday and was attended by the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Kabale mayor, Mr. Sentaro Byamugisha, and the Kabale town clerk, Ms. Justine Barekye. They commissioned several projects, including Rutooma Health Center III (Shs920 million), a staff house at Kamukira Health Center IV (Shs860 million), Kigongi-Rushaki Road (Shs755 million), the main hall at Kabale Primary School (Shs90 million), and a rehabilitated theater and ramp at Kamukira Health Center IV (Shs81 million). These projects were then handed over to the community for immediate use.
Mr. Nyakahuma expressed his gratitude to the government for releasing the funds for the construction of these community projects. He also commended the contractors for ensuring value for money during the execution of the works. He urged the community members to make the most of these projects and protect them from vandalism.
Mr. Byamugisha, the mayor of Kabale, mentioned that the commissioned projects were initiated and completed during the 2022/2023 financial year. He appealed to the community to support the NRM government if they wished to see more projects in the future. Mr. Byamugisha, who initially held office under the FDC party ticket but won his second term as an independent candidate, expressed his intention to join and advocate for the NRM government due to the successful completion of these government-funded projects in 2026.
Other local leaders, including the LCIII chairman for Northern Division, Mr. Isaac Rushoga, and the LCIII chairperson for Southern Division, Ms. Mackline Batware, welcomed the commissioned projects. They believed that the projects would ensure timely service delivery that the community desired. Ms. Batware specifically highlighted the importance of the staff houses at Kamukira Health Center IV, as it would now facilitate timely health services and support pregnant mothers in need of maternal care.
The completion of these community projects signifies a step forward in enhancing infrastructure and service delivery in Kabale Municipality. The hope is that they will have a positive impact on the lives of the community members and contribute to their overall well-being.
