A 25-year-old man from Amuria District has been admitted to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital after a violent altercation over a woman resulted in his manhood being severed. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the victim, Martin Onyait, was allegedly assaulted by Paul Onyala.
Local leader Julius Otim, representing Ogongora Village in Soroti's Ogongora Sub County, reported that the victim was found naked and unconscious in a pool of blood before being taken to the hospital. At present, the victim is receiving treatment from a team of seven doctors who are attending to his severe wounds, including those on his face and neck.
The victim's father, Yuventino Opio, contacted Otim to inform him of the incident. Opio stated that his son had sustained a serious injury to his manhood and was bleeding profusely. The attackers and the woman involved in the incident were not present at the scene.
Mary Abuko, the mother of Onyait's two children, expressed shock and disbelief at her husband's alleged involvement in infidelity. She claimed that her husband had been at home throughout the day and only left after receiving the call from his father.
Abuko further accused the suspect of stealing her husband's clothes and money, amounting to Shs500,000. The director of Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, Dr. Ben Watmon, stated that he would comment on the matter once he received a detailed report on the victim's health condition. The East Kyoga regional police spokesperson, John Tukei, mentioned that he had not yet received information about the incident.
