Milutin Sredojević, commonly known
as "Micho," was a well-known figure in Ugandan football and served as the head coach of the Uganda Cranes National Football Team. His departure from the Uganda Cranes Football Club in 2017 was met with controversy and speculation.
Sredojević's departure from the Uganda Cranes was primarily attributed to contract disputes and alleged breaches of his employment terms. He had been in charge of the national team for a relatively successful period, with the team making significant strides in African football during his tenure. However, reports emerged that he had violated the terms of his contract, which led to disputes with the Ugandan football authorities.
One of the major reasons for his departure was reportedly his decision to leave the team's training camp without permission to attend to a personal matter. This move was seen as a breach of his contract and a lack of commitment to his role as the head coach.
Additionally, there were reports of tension between Sredojević and the Uganda Football Association (FUFA) regarding issues such as unpaid salaries and disagreements over the management of the national team. These disputes further strained the relationship between the coach and the football association.
As a result of these issues, Milutin Sredojević parted ways with the Uganda Cranes in August 2017. His departure was met with mixed reactions from Ugandan football fans, as many recognized his contributions to the team's improved performance but were also concerned about the reported contract violations and disputes.
Sredojević went on to take coaching positions in other African countries, including a successful stint with the Egyptian club Zamalek. His time with the Uganda Cranes remains a notable chapter in Ugandan football history, marked by both achievements and controversies.
