Meet Okello Alele, a 65-year-old beekeeper in Lira District who makes millions of dollars.

Africa's Lira - Beekeeper Okello James Alele, 65, comes from the Lira district of northern Uganda. He has been in the business for more than 40 years and is the owner of Akilo Apiculture Farm.

In 1979, Alele had just seven log hives at first. He currently maintains over 112 hives, and each harvest yields honey valued between 6,000 and 9,000 US dollars. He harvests three to four times every year, earning a total of 45 000 US dollars or 15 million shillings.

Alele provides honey to hospitals, hotels, stores, and schools since it is in such high demand throughout the Lango area. In addition, he sells it online.

Alele also makes bee products like propolis, beeswax, and royal jelly in addition to honey. All of his products are produced by him, and he uses his own brand to mark them.

Alele is a fervent supporter of beekeeping and exhorts other farmers to start doing it. He considers beekeeping to be a lucrative, long-lasting career that also contributes to crop pollination.

A mentor to aspiring beekeepers, Alele. He has taught many people the craft of beekeeping, and he is always eager to impart his wisdom.

Alele is a success story whose tale serves as an example for others. He is living proof that beekeeping is a viable enterprise that can support families well.
