KABALE - Kabale District police are actively looking for the assailants who tragically killed a 45-year-old man in Bushabira village, Kibuga sub-county, Ndorwa West County.
Edson Mpubaka, a citizen of Bushabira village in Kibuga sub-county, Kabale district, has been named as the victim.
The incident happened in Nyamitoma village, Kibuga sub-county, Kabale district on the evening of September 2, 2023, according to Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi Region. Mpubaka's death is said to have been purposefully brought on by unidentified attackers.
Maate added that the deceased got into a fight with a person by the name of Kahungu on September 2, 2023, around 2:00 pm. The two people were split apart by bystanders, who then all went back to their houses.
Maate informed the journalists that on September 3, 2023, at around 7:30 am, a person by the name of Kashaija, who lived in Nyamitoma village and was known to have mental health problems, discovered the deceased's motionless corpse close to Tumusiime Peace's home.
Kashaija immediately informed the LCIII Chairperson, who sought assistance from the police.
After conducting a postmortem examination, a police team lead by D/SP Mukama Hakim D/CID/O quickly arrived on the spot. No suspects have been detained as of yet.
Maate disclosed that as part of the continuing inquiry, community awareness initiatives have also been carried out in partnership with regional authorities.
