A vehicle carrying matooke overturns on the Mubende-Mityana route, leaving four people dead and three injured.

On Sunday morning in Kassanda along the Mubende-Mityana route, a truck in which they were riding overturned many times, causing at least four persons to perish there and three others to suffer significant injuries.

Superintendent of Police Kawala Racheal, a spokesman for the Wamala region police, reported that the accident occurred at the Myanzi trading center in the Kassanda district at around 3 a.m.


"Preliminary investigations point to a brake failure in a black Fuso Fighter car with the license plate UAY 415C that was traveling from Mubende to Kampala while carrying matooke. Four people were killed instantly and three others were injured when the car lost control and flipped, according to Kawala.

Grace Nambusi, 40, a resident of Kikajo, Namasuba in Wakiso district, Bright Patrick, 34, a resident of Kibiri-Busaabala in Wakiso district, and Lydia Nadunga, 42, a businesswoman from Kalerwe in Kampala, were among the injured, according to Kawala, who added that the injured have been rushed to Mityana hospital for treatment while the deceased's bodies have been transported to Kassanda Health Center.

This horrific collision serves as a powerful reminder of how important safe driving is. Before starting their excursions, drivers are advised to check the maintenance and performance of vital equipment such the brakes in addition to driving carefully.

The incident is one more accident on Ugandan highways.

For instance, the preceding week saw a total of 405 incidents reported across the nation, of which 99 resulted in fatalities and 325 in serious injuries.
