Police in Zimbabwe apprehended 40 members of an opposition alliance when they were out campaigning in advance of next week's elections.
They were arrested on Tuesday in the Glenview neighborhood of Harare.
Gladmore Hakata, the CCC's candidate for the Glenview South MP seat, was reportedly seized, according to CCC head Fadzayi Mahere.
According to a police statement shared on social media, the CCC participated in activities that were not specified in their announcement for a protest in the neighborhood.
They paraded their automobiles through the streets, slowed down traffic, and yelled political slogans when a resident reported the incident, according to the police.
Last month, the opposition asked the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to take action to stop the use of the police to conduct elections.
The CCC asserts that the police have blocked a significant portion of its meetings since July 9 and for a total of around 100 occasions since the party's founding in January of last year.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa and CCC leader Nelson Chamisa are the front-runners in the election.
